VirtualGrenadier is a non-political informational and commercial web site devoted to documenting the appearance of the German soldier 1939-1945 through the use of period photographs, by showcasing examples from private collections, and by offering original examples for sale. Excellent Waffen-SS officer's visored cap, typical Kleiderkasse product having a high peak, stamped in black ink size 57 but seems to be a bit larger, cap body of finely ribbed trikot wool, with black velvet cap band, white wool piping, composite visor, metallic chin cord held by two silver pebbled buttons, having a light grey colored rayon lining and with grey colored leather sweatband, sweatband has one tear at the rear but nothing is missing, insignia is silver washed zinc, eagle may have been reapplied as there are holes to the inner lining at the eagle position but the prongs of the eagle now in place do not penetrate, cap is very clean and there is little trace of wear and no external damage, internally there is some staining where the lining came into contact with the wearer's head, very nice, USD $7800 SOLD
