Full image - THIS ITEM IS SOLD

Luftwaffe contract black wrap for a Major from Panzer-Division Hermann Göring, incredibly interesting example of earlier production than typically encountered later issue Luftwaffe contract black Panzer wraps, garment is constructed of early to mid war higher quality dense black wool, lining, belt hook support straps, tie tape tunnels and buttoning tabs are made of a finely ribbed putty colored cotton, the ties themselves are light blue colored tape with HBT weave, the threads assembling and attaching the belt hook support straps are blue grey in color, the sleeve and front button plaquet linings are of black flat cotton with a bluish tinge, the only markings are those for sizes stamped in black ink, there are no manufacturer, date or depot markings, there are four large doughnut shaped black composite buttons for the front closure, smaller black composite button are used to fasten the inner buttoning tabs and for the adjustable cuffs, except for the button underneath the collar, the other two lapel buttons were removed, shoulder strap buttons are blue painted pebbled steel, as was fashionable, the wrap appears to have been ever so slightly shortened with the lower buttoning tab being relocated and sewn into place by hand, the length of the shoulder strap bridles was shortened to better accommodate the slip on Heer style Panzer Major shoulder boards, the collar is piped in thick dull metallic piping which was carefully applied with black thread, the Panzer style collar patches have synthetic white piping and aluminum Totenkopfen affixed with brass prongs through the collar, the collar patches themselves are made of the same wool as the wrap and are machine sewn into place with the same thread used to assemble the garment, machine zig zag sewn to the right upper breast is a machine embroidered on black Luftwaffe national emblem, the Hermann Göring Div. officer's sleeveband is hand sewn to the lower right sleeve, it has aluminum wire embroidery and silver metallic borders on a medium blue moleskin or camelhair backing, a Heer style Afrika with palms sleeveband on Camelhair backing is sewn to the lower left sleeve, both sleevebands are sewn a bit lower on the cuffs than regulated, there is one set of badge loops below the national emblem and three more sets on the left breast, wrap is in a lightly used state with just wear and age to the high spots and insignia, one of the front plaquet buttoning positions has become undone, the borders of the sleevebands underneath the sleeves have a few picks, the eye portion of the collar's hook and eye has broken off but it's shank remains in the collar, there are a few splashes of what looks like mud to the right lower rear sleeve, based on his research consignor suggests uniform belonged formerly to RKT Major Werner Grün whose final rank was Major, who was also awarded the DKiG, served in Africa and was a former army Panzer Kompanie Chef und Bataillon Kommandeur in the Afrikakorps - in 1st Battalion of PzRgt.5, he went to the Kriegsakademie and became a General Staff officer, Grün was assigned to the Hermann Göring Division as a logistics officer in 1944 and later became the HG Korps logistics officer (paste the URL below for more information), incredible example and the earliest true Luftwaffe production example that we have had the opportunity to offer, SOLD
